The Morgan Library and Museum in New York City is hosting a major exhibition of 100 master drawings from Munich’s famed Staatliche Graphische Sammlung. The show, Durer to de Kooning, runs from October 12, 2012 — January 6, 2013 and includes Michelangelo’s St. Peter (1492) and William de Kooning’s Standing Man (1951).

Today, Oct. 11, 2012, marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, as well as the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in 1992. It is also the beginning of the Year of Faith, called for by Pope Benedict XVI, that runs through Nov. 24, 2013 (Feast of Christ the King).
