On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception we checked out performance art (“The Event of the Thread”) in NYC. The work features a giant white fabric oscillating in the wind — generated by people on swings. Seeing folks, young and old, in awe of the fabric, one couldn’t help but feel the connection and yearning people have for peace, transcendence — the Divine. And yet for many that thirst is not being quenched.
In Our Lady we find the fulfillment of Isaiah’s ancient prophesy: “I exult for joy in the Lord, my soul rejoices in my God; for he has clothed me in the garment of salvation and robed me in the cloak of justice, like a bride adorned with her jewels.” Is 61:10
