EverydayHoliness“Father, I want to help you in everything you want. Even as I age, I want my heart to be younger everyday.” Fr. Muzquiz in a letter to St. Josemaria Escriva, Putting Down Roots, (Scepter, 2009)

Fr. Joseph Muzquiz (1912-1983) was sent by St. Josemaria Escriva, in 1949, to bring Opus Dei to the United States.

His cause for canonization was opened in 2011 in Boston.

“Father Joseph’s approach as confessor and spiritual director was based on confidence in God’s fatherly care along with common sense and serenity. With regard to the spirit of penance, for instance, he did not discourage people from rigorous fasts or other extraordinary mortifications when it appeared that the Holy Spirit was asking of them, but he would remind them that first and most important was to live the spirit of mortification in everyday events: spending time straightening out a closet, writing to family members, fixing something around the house.” John F. Coverdale, Putting Down Roots (Scepter, 2009)
