MariaGorettiThe relics of St. Maria Goretti (1890-1902) were at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Sept. 28-9.

Maria Goretti, of Italy, was murdered while resisting the sexual advances of Alessandro Serenelli. She died after forgiving him. He later repented, after seeing her in a dream, and joined a religious order. She was canonized in 1950 by Pope Pius XII. Serenelli attended the canonization.

St. Maria Goretti’s intercession can help us in the struggle to be pure.
